Archive for August, 2011

Not really much, just some quick thoughts.

Today’s Earthquake happen in Mineral, Virginia.

“Mineral was originally known as Tolersville,  but adopted its current name when it incorporated in 1902 due to the mining industry that supported the community. It was the center of gold mining activity in Louisa County and during its heyday there were no fewer than fifteen gold mines located within two miles (3 km) of the town. A zinc and lead mine also operated in the area into the 1970s.”

“At 1:51pm on August 23, 2011, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake was reportedly centered in Mineral, Virginia and at a depth of 3.7 miles (6 Kilometers). According to Associated Press, it “forced evacuations of all the monuments on the National Mall in Washington and rattled nerves from Georgia to Martha’s Vineyard”.”

This is just a brief post to share some things for everyone’s prayerful consideration. It has been brought to my attention some interesting correlations. But before I do I would like to preface the info with God’s word.

De 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon Him for? 8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Ps 147:19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, His statutes and His judgments unto Israel. 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.

Ro 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

God has blessings available to the whole world with His word that has come to us through the divinely inspired writings of His people. All of scripture was penned by Jewish writers, though some hold to the exception of Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts which were written by the same.  There is nothing in scripture to confirm Luke was not a Jew, many would simply argue the name was not Hebrew. However, with the lack of scriptural evidence, I would be inclined to believe Luke was in fact Hebrew simply from the verses provide above. However, since that isn’t my main topic, if  interested you can review “Was Luke a Gentile?” by Thomas S. McCall, Th.D.

What has been brought to my attention was the number of verses that are used to make up the KJV of the Old Testament, or what we can accurately refer to as the Old Covenant which was given to Israel. The total number of verses in the King James Version is 23,145.

Ro 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest He also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in His goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree.
