Obama Vision? – Vatican influence – Can the blind lead the blind?

Posted: June 6, 2011 in End Times, Shared Thoughts, Wake Up!

Isa 9:16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

Mt 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Just as Israeli officials feared, US President Barack Obama’s “vision” of pushing Israel back to it’s 1967 borders has become the basis for international peace efforts in the Middle East.

Last week, France offered to host renewed peace talks based on the “Obama vision.” Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas at the weekend accepted the French proposal, even though it would likely end his campaign to unilaterally declare a Palestinian state at the UN in September.

According to the Bethlehem-based Palestinian news agency Ma’an, Abbas and his advisers have realized that the UN statehood bid is a dead end, as the US will never allow the motion to pass in the Security Council.

But it appears just the threat of taking such unilateral action has paid off. A former adviser to US presidents on Middle East issues said that Obama’s “1967 borders” policy speech was an astounding and unprecedented adoption of Arab positions regarding the peace process with Israel.

If Obama’s stated conditions are to become the starting point for new negotiations, Abbas has gained far more than he would have at the UN.

However, Abbas will now have to contend with his new government partners in Hamas, who called his acceptance of the French proposal “hasty and misguided.”

Hamas sees no point in negotiations with Israel based on the 1967 border, or otherwise, as the group remains dedicated to seeing a Palestinian state fully replace Israel.

Concerned about seeing Israel further isolated, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said Israel, too, is positively examining the French proposal. Netanyahu did, however, raise reservations over Paris’ plan to reach an agreement on borders before broaching the topic of “Palestinian refugees.”

During his visit to Washington last month, Netanyahu was widely seen as schooling Obama after the latter pushed the idea of returning to the 1967 borders.

Netanyahu, like most Israelis, views the 1967 borders as indefensible, and is not prepared to uproot all Jewish life in Judea and Samaria (the so-called “West Bank”) nor to sever the Jews’ ancient claims to those lands.

Pope: Palestinian state is an urgent need

VATICAN CITY/TEL AVIV: Pope Benedict XVI and Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas met in the Vatican Friday and said there was an “urgent need” for a lasting solution to theIsraeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Particular stress was laid on the urgent need to find a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian  conflict,” the Vatican said in a statement after the talks.

Any resolution to the conflict will have to respect the rights of all parties including through “the attainment of the Palestinian people’s legitimate aspirations for an independent state,” the statement added.

“It was thus reiterated that soon the State of Israel and the Palestinian State must live in security, at peace with their neighbors and within internationally recognized borders,” it continued.

Also Friday, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe concluded his visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories by claiming that the proposed Middle East peace conference in Paris next month had “a chance” of taking place.

Juppe met with Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak and opposition leader Tzipi Livni before leaving Friday.

“I have read in the press that the Israeli government is studying our proposal, so there is no barrier,” he said after meeting Livni.

After meeting Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad in Ramallah Thursday, Juppe called the current stalemate between Israel and the Palestinians “untenable.”

Fayyad welcomed the idea of a peace conference but Israel has yet to make a formal response.

Juppe is to head to the United States next week to promote France’s plan, which has so far drawn a non-committal response from Washington.

Earlier Friday in Jerusalem Juppe met the parents of a Palestinian with French nationality who has been in an Israeli jail for six years over a plot to kill a right-wing Israeli rabbi.

Salah Hamuri, 26, was arrested in March 2005 on charges of conspiring with the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine to assassinate Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

The rare gesture by France’s top diplomat came the day after he met the parents of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier who was captured by Palestinian militants in June 2006.

“He assured me that in all his meetings with the Israelis, he had requested clemency for Salah but in every time they said no,” said his mother Denise Hamuri.

“He said he wanted to give us the same attention [as the Shalit family] and that he wanted to meet both families,” she added.

Hamuri was convicted in April 2008 by an Israeli military court on charges of conspiracy to murder and sentenced to seven years behind bars.

Fearful and exciting times . . .

But honestly, how sad is this next video?

Blindness is rampant everywhere concerning the middle east . . .

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.   Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting,  and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Reaction to the two videos: Does anyone still believe in, much less fear THE Living God anymore, or do they think they can make some anti-Biblical compromise out of man’s wisdom without him noticing or caring?

Re. the golden icon Abbas gave to the Pope: seriously?!? Look at it. The images appear to have been BEHEADED and to have had their hands cut off(!!) In many Islamic countries, e.g., Saudi, those are among the punishments for breaking Shari’a Law, e.g., proselytizing for Christ Jesus or converting to Christianity.

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4, KJV)
